Dr. Chandra Shaardha obtained her degree in Chemistry from Madras University in 1980. She holds an MBA in Finance from Bharathidasan University. She has a vast experience in the banking and insurance industry.
She began her career with the Karnataka Bank and served at Tiruchirappalli and then at Mumbai fort branch for 14 years. She took a break to take care of her kids and to support her husband, a naval officer in Indian Navy.
She joined Shriram Group of Companies (MADRAS) at Vasant kunj, New Delhi in 2003 as an Assistant manager looking after their credit and insurance businesses till they shifted their headquarters to Jaipur in 2006.
During this period, she took her Diploma in General Insurance from Insurance Institute of India , Mumbai. Thereafter she served as a Financial Adviser to CORE, an NGO at New Delhi briefly before joining SRM University, Modinagar in 2007.
As an academician she taught at the management department to MBA, BBA and Engineering (B.Tech, M.Tech) students on subjects such as Banking Services, Entrepreneurship, Lean manufacturing, Managerial Economics, Business Communication etc.
During her career at SRM, she also held Admin-In charge post which made her to liaise with UGC, AICTE, MCI, and Ministries of GoI for various purposes including affairs relating to setting up of new universities / departments etc. Amidst her hectic schedules, she did her Ph.D thesis on SARFAESI Act 2002. She was also awarded the best teacher award in SRM during 2018.
She has published papers in leading journals, chaired many sessions in seminars, organised various events and counselled hundreds of students over these years.
