Plea bargaining- A New Development in the Criminal Justice System in India
A guest lecture was organised on 12.1.17 on 'Plea bargaining- A New Development in the Criminal Justice System in India' on 12th January, 2017 at JEMTEC School of Law. Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Geetha, Dean, School of Law, Dr. Pallavi Gupta HOD, faculty members and BALLB VI Semester, BALLB IV Semester and BBALLB IV Semester students were attended the program.An eminent scholar of repute, Dr, Prof. S.C. Raina, honourable Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU had addressed the students. The students were enthralled and encouraged by the welcome note delivered by the Dean, School of Law, JIMS, Dr. Prof. K.K. Geetha. She encouraged students to be active learners and value the opportunity of understanding the legal concept of plea bargaining through the medium of effective listening and concentration. The eminent guest of honour, Prof. Dr. S.C. Raina, delivered the lecture with an opening note of motivating the students to grasp knowledge and appreciate the learning of a law school curriculum. Further he enlightened the students with the core concept of plea bargaining and its related aspects. He actively engaged students by focusing on the comparative analysis of the concept being prevalent in the United States and in India. The lecture was substantiated greatly through a plethora of illustrations and involved active student guest interaction. After the lecture, students were especially given an opportunity to put their queries to the guest of honour. It was a highly enriching experience for one and all. The lecture was concluded by a Vote of thanks, delivered by the Head of the Department, School of Law, Dr. Prof. Pallavi Gupta. She expressed her gratitude to the guest and acknowledged his benign presence amongst the students for such an informative session.
